Prosper In Your Spirit!
I want to share an insight on spiritual prosperity today. Spiritual prosperity is rooted in incorporating into our very heart and soul the teachings and principles of the gospel of Jesus. A prosperous soul, then, is one in which one’s heart and mind has opened itself up to receive all that Jesus taught and is feeding daily upon the Word of God, whereby spiritual growth is possible. We are all transformed by the renewing of our minds. There’s strong urge to be like the World. The society is doing everything possible to make us conform to it. And they look very attractive because we have ‘modernized’ them, and considered them ‘civilized’. Evidences abound everywhere: the marriage institution has been degraded – people view it as a partnership where you can opt out at will, prayer is taken out of school, pornography and violence are legally beamed into our living rooms, lying, cheating and supplanting are considered acceptable means to get to the top, etc. Romans 12:1-2.
This is spiritual formation – being shaped by the Spirit of Christ into what he wants us to be, using the gifts he has given each of us, doing the work he has given us, being instruments of righteousness as we submit our lives to him.
Becoming more Christ-like does not happen by accident, and it does not happen by force. God does not take away our free will and force us to change. Rather, we must turn to him and seek him. This is what the spiritual disciplines are designed to do. In prayer and study, worship and service, we make choices about what is a priority in our lives. We make choices each day about what god we will worship and serve. He is already being formed in us. That is what salvation is all about: For there to be prosperity, there must be progress. One must be acting upon it, living according to it, as illustrated by Jesus in His sermon on the mount.
Be Prosperous!
